Ben Abitz, CFP®
Ben founded Abax Capital after experience as an advisor with a large investment bank, a $2 Billion Family-Office, and with a boutique planning firm. He also teaches future financial planners as a lecturer at the University of Virginia.
He is a self-proclaimed nerd. He enjoys spreadsheets and the tax code. It is his mission to help families navigate the best days and most challenging days of their lives.
Family is at the core of Ben’s life. He and his wife Megen have two children (Hayden, 15 and Sutton, 7) and live in Greensboro. He spends most weekends at soccer games and rowing regattas around the southeast.
Ben has been involved as a member of the Executive Leadership Team for the March of Dimes – March for Babies and as a volunteer coach for First Tee of the Triad.

Carly Gravenor
Carly is a University of Delaware graduate with a degree in Education. After several years teaching young children, she transitioned into a role supporting financial advisors as they guide clients through retirement planning. Driven by a deep desire to help others, Carly brings persistence, compassion, and a commitment to ensuring those around her feel supported.
When she isn’t working Carly is spending time with her husband, Joe, their 9-month-old daughter, Sydney, and their lively crew of three dogs and two cats. Carly loves spending time with her family exploring new cities, finding the best hiking spots and the best food.
What is an Abax?
An Abax is an ancient counting board. Thought to be the first iteration of a calculator, it was the precursor to the abacus. It represents history, legacy, foundations, complex analysis, and overall nerdy-ness.
